About the Position: This position is located at the USAG-HI, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division, Utilities Branch, Schofield Barracks Oahu Water Section. Plant operations are performed on a 7 day, 5 alternating shift schedule. Shifts are 0700-1530 and alternate weekly between 4 employees.

You will serve as a Water Treatment Plant Operator with U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division, Utilities Branch, Schofield Barracks Oahu Water Section. Responsible for performing water plant operational duties required for the production, treatment and distribution of water for military reservations and training areas. You will also operate and perform maintenance of sand filtration systems for swimming pools.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet this screen out element to be considered further. Failure to meet the screen out element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience performing common Water Treatment Plant Operator tasks including basic water testing and operating portable and limited capacity pumps.

Operation of water treatment plant equipment, machinery, etc.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: A degree of heavy physical effort is present when the operator is required open and close heavy valves; lift heavy equipment, tools and containers of chemicals; work in strained or awkward positions; climbing ladders, mountain trails, walking the deep well tunnels; and continuously move about the plant.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both in and out of doors. Work requires regular ingress and egress to the deep well tunnel, a Non-permit required confined space as long as the atmospheric conditions do not change. In the event the atmospheric conditions change the Deep well tunnel is re-classified, as a permit required confined space. There is exposure to poisonous/corrosive chemicals and compounds, infection or disease, gas and fumes. Protective devices such as self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), respirators; chemical gloves/aprons must be worn. There is also danger due to falls into open tanks and manholes as well as the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones.

Conditions of Employment:
After a year of experience in the position incumbent is required to take the test for a Grade 1 Water Treatment Operator license.
The incumbent must obtain and maintain the license within a year after one year of experience.
This position is designated as Drug Testing required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification after a year of experience with the swimming pools.
Serves as an incidental motor vehicle operator of vehicles to carry self, tools and equipment, and sometimes other employees to work site.
Must obtain/maintain a government vehicle operator''s license for the class of vehicles operated.
Must obtain/maintain a state driver''s license.
Must respond to emergency calls after regular working hours.
May be subject to rotating shifts.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
