You will serve as an Pest Control Worker with U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Public Works. Responsible for locating, recognizing, controlling and carrying out appropriate pest control measures. Incumbent will set traps, hand baits or apply general use dusts, sprays or fogs to control common pests in one or several types of environments (e.g., in and around residences and offices in food service areas,in storage areas and warehouses).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C - Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet this screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience setting traps, baits, and sprays to control common pests in various environments.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires moderate to heavy physical effort such as lifting and carrying items often weighing 50 pounds or more. May carry chemical solutions and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for extended periods. Moves furniture and equipment and operates high impact pneumatic hammers as well as various carpentry and masonry tools. The job requires working in a wide variety of locations, frequently in cramped and uncomfortable positions for extended periods (For example: Accessing attics with 2 X 4 beams with limited space to physically move easily). Must be able to climb and work off a 40 foot ladder and also out of an aerial platform. Requires stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is accomplished both inside and outside. When working outside, pest control workers are often exposed to hot sun for extended periods of time and occasionally to bad weather. Outside work may be done under hot and dusty conditions for extended periods. Inside work is often accomplished in structural areas with minimum ventilation or limited access. The protective equipment designed to nullify the risk of exposure to toxic dust and sprays, which might damage their health. Damage of health may occur if appropriate safety procedures are not followed. Discomfort may be experienced while wearing protective clothing, respirators, goggles, or facemasks for extended periods of time up to 4 hours. They may be exposed to poisonous insects and plants and to wild animals. Protective devices such as but not limited to earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required. Steel toe shoes, hard hats and safety glasses, are required at all times. Coveralls with long sleeves or trousers with a longsleeve shirt are required clothing.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
2. The employee will drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies and other employees. Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DoD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
3. This position is designated as Drug Testing Required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
4. Assures that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
5. Incumbent must become and remain certified IAW AR 200-5 andDoD Pest Management Plan, which includes DoD 4150.7, Pest Management Program.
6. Incumbent is required to wear a respirator and must remain physically able to work wearing a respirator for extended periods of time up to 4 hours.
7. As required, incumbent must undergo and pass physical examinations.
