About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Public Works.

Perform construction, installation, repair and modification to wood and wood substitute structures and items.
Apply general knowledge of wood, composite materials, wood substitutes and wood working techniques.
Work with standard measurements and specifications to complete carpentry tasks.
Paint structures and signs. Pour and finish concrete and plaster work.
Lay linoleum, counter tops and tiles. Fabricate cement forms.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
This position is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 600-85.
This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
This position requires the incumbent to be called back to work during non-duty hours to respond to emergencies and make repairs.
This position requires the incumbent to have or obtain and maintain a forklift operators licens within 6 monts of start date.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Carpentry Worker without more than normal supervision: perform common carpentry tasks utilizing blueprints, sketches and diagrams to install pre-planned framing and partitions of wood or fabricated material; using pattern, spacing and techniques for nailing, fastening, bracing, splicing and cleating, and using standard joints and grooves; using basic shop arithmetic to fit and measure boards or sheets of material; using templates and precut or preplanned materials to complete assigned carpentry projects. I can perform surface prep and painting of various materials and structures. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Employee works in shops and at job sites. Strenuous physical exertion is often required. Employee may lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Employee is required to stand, stoop, and bend. Kneeling, climbing on ladders, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Work is frequently done from ladders, scaffolding and platforms.
Working Conditions: Employee is exposed to moderate or high noise levels, sawdust, glue fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment when performing work in the shop area. Work at job sites exposes employee to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. Employee is subject to cuts, bruises and contusions. May be required to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces and attics, which may be dusty and dirty. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn. Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
